The lack of updates to the blog recently is due to a few uploading glitches which have hopefully gone now. Had a lovely day with Dad and Paul down at St Heliers beach. Connor had his first dunk in the sea, which I think he enjoyed

Being swung in the sea

Couldn't resist putting this photo on! Connor got all his teeth quite early, he's had sixteen teeth for a couple of months, which could be one of the reasons he's so good at eating everything in sight. Some of the little ones his age we see regularly only have three or four teeth.

He loves Uncle Paul's sunglasses!

CHRISTMAS DAY 2005

We had a lovely, relaxing Xmas day at our place. Connor had some presents first thing, then Bruce and I opened ours while he had his sleep. Dad and Paul arrived late morning with more presents (do you see a theme emerging?), and Bruce's parents, sister and grandmother came early afternoon, along with my Great Uncle Phillip and cousin Chris. We had a great traditional Xmas dinner with turkey, stuffing, roast veges and pudding which went down very well (sorry but I can't buy into the BBQ on Xmas Day thing - must be my English upbringing!). This was followed, not surprisingly, by more presents, wine, whisky, port, cheese etc and a bit of a well deserved rest (ha ha). Connor was really good and practically fell into bed after a day of full on attention by so many people. All in all a great day...

Connor was fascinated by the bee made from balloons that was sitting in his Christmas stocking whe he woke up (he loves balloons).

After being so good all week at leaving the presents alone (much to my amazement), Connor was very excited to finally touch, shake and tear open the mystery boxes and bright paper wrapped goodies under the tree!

Uncle Paul gave Connor an 'alphabet pal', which he was very taken with. Connor quite liked it too...

Christmas dinner (minus Bruce, who was taking the photo), including Bruce's Nan and my Uncle Philipp, who are both 92!

We spent the afternoon with Ange and little Nicholas today. Nick (3) was so good with Connor and kept offering him drinks (as you can see!) and making sure he was ok. He's going to make an excellent big brother when his baby brother or sister arrives in a few months!

Pat and I took Connor to see Santa this morning. He wasn't that keen on sitting on Santa's knee, so the very kind Santa gave me his seat!

Thursday, December 15

Connor had his first sit on Santa's knee at his last 'Jumping Beans' gym class. He seemed to take it all in his stride, which surprised me a bit as he was a bit of a scary looking Santa!

Connor is teasing us with his walking. He's perfectly capable of walking around on his own, as he showed yesterday at Mission Bay. I think the problem is that he can't go fast enough, so prefers to either crawl at lightning speed or run with his trolley!

I made a rather big mistake this morning. Connor still has two sleeps a day and usually goes down about 9:30am for an hour or so. Pat and I were going shopping so I thought I'd take a gamble and hope Connor would have a sleep in the car on the way over there, so we could get there a bit early before the crowds. However when we arrived Connor was bright eyed and rearing to go, having made no sign of going to sleep. About an hour later the poor guy had a meltdown he was just so tired. Couldn't stop him crying and he just wouldn't go to sleep in the buggy, he was past it and well into overtired mode. Eventually decided to go home and he had a little nap in the car (for about 15 minutes!). He was a bit manky for the rest of the day, nothing like his usual self, even after his afternoon sleep (which wasn't very long either). We were both quite exhaused by the end of the day, but a walk up to the park to feed the roosters perked us up. Both Connor and the roosters are getting quite at ease with each other!!

I won't be making that mistake again, sometimes you forget how unable to cope the little ones get when they're overtired. When Connor has his sleeps everyone is happy! I did feel very guilty about the whole thing...

We had a picnic in the park with all the little ones from the coffee group today and the weather was great (very hot!!!). One of the families brought along a gorgeous little cart for the kids to have rides in, but Connor was much happier to help push than to sit still!

Took Connor for a walk on the green down by St Heliers beach today with Dad and Paul. He kept letting out squeals of delight and excitement at so much space to run free with his trolley...

...until Uncle Paul decided to have a go and Connor was left crawling...

...but Paul soon got fed up with it and Connor took off in the opposite direction

We finished up in the playground, where Dad, Paul and I got to go on all the rides (for Connor's sake, of course :-)).
