A quick update while I think about it! Connor has settled into school really well, it's been nearly two weeks now and he seems to be loving it. I asked him the other day what he likes about school, and he said singing, writing, drawing and playing with Angus at lunchtime. I was quite pleased there were classroom activities in the list, as I knew he was having a great time during breaks. His best friend Angus had been at school for a couple of months before Connor, and they get together each break time to play. Connor excitedly told me last week that he and Angus had been flushing their bottoms in the toilets at lunchtime, so I am now waiting for some kind of note to come home in his bag or to be summoned to see the teacher!!! Having been at Playcentre for so long and knowing all his friends, I'm still getting used to other children I don't know shouting 'see you Connor!' or yelling out to him to tell him something when I go to pick him up. It all seems quite strange, but great at the same time!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!
Today was Connor's first day of school. We had done two visits, and I thought he would be ok, but was still pretty nervous, as I think was he. The great thing was that his great friend Angus has already been there for a few weeks, in a different new entrants class, but they all get together to play at break times. Also, his friend Evan from Playcentre was starting today, in the same class as Connor, which was great. This morning he was up and straight into building the huge Lego police station that we gave him for his birthday. He has suddenly got into Lego in a big way, and spent the entire afternoon yesterday from after lunch until bedtime (with a couple of food breaks etc), following the instructions and building it, without any help. He managed to finish it off before school, which I was very impressed with!
In his uniform ready to go!
He had a great day, seemed to really enjoy it and was very hyper, chatty and excited tonight. Bruce left work early and we all met him after school, then spent an hour at the school playground and huge adventure playground, racing around with Angus and Evan, before going home for a treat of hot chips followed by strawberries for dinner. Tomorrow the class are going on a school trip to Kelly Tarlton's a large underwater aquarium complex, and I'm going as a helper. He's really looking forward to it, as am I!
To top off his big day, his second tooth fell out tonight!
For Connor's birthday on Sunday we took him to Rainbow's End, a theme park in Auckland that I remember going to when I was a teenager, it's been around for a while! We had a fantastic day, mostly spent in the children's section on the little roller coaster and smaller rides and bouncy castle, but really enjoyed going out to see the big rides, and can't wait til they're big enough to go on them!! We were there for most of the day, and at lunchtime they had an amazing Chinese Acrobatic troupe to entertain us. They were incredible, some of them rivaled the acts we saw at Dralion (Cirque de Soleil), a great unexpected treat, except the boys have been trying to copy some of their moves!
I particularly liked the rides that parents were allowed to accompany them on!
The night before on Halloween Bruce and I went to our friend Rick's 40th birthday party, a huge event which was great fun. The dress code was 'bloody well', so this was how we went.
