We got back yesterday from a fantastic week away at Omaha Beach (about an hour North of Auckland). Stayed at a friend's bach (beach house for the non kiwis) and had a brilliant time. Connor loved the beach and the water and we couldn't keep him out of it (as you can see from one of the photos below of me assisting in some wave jumping fully clothed!). The weather was brilliant, hot and sunny most of the time.

It was nice to have a bit of a rest from picking Connor up and down all the time and I actually sat down during his daytime sleep rather than the usual running around (I think most of you know I'm nearly 17 weeks pregnant with number 2). We spent most of the time at the beach, and pottering around the lovely surrounding areas, it was bliss! Back to reality today, but very excited about catching up with our friends Neil and Catherine, who are over from Portland USA for a few days (Neil was best man at our wedding).

Connor loved the pool that Bruce dug on the beach for him, and was very reluctant to get out, even when I noticed he was shivering...

Love the beach!

Not a lot of competition for a space on NZ beaches!

Still unable to post photos which is very frustrating. Think it's to do with the speed of the connection as we've used up our broadband allocation for the month. Should be sorted in a few days.

Wednesday, February 8

I took Connor to Bruce's parent's beach caravan with them for the weekend, while Bruce stayed home sanding the lounge (yeah it was a pretty rough deal for me :-)). Connor had a great time playing in the water and we had trouble getting him out! I got to relax, Bruce's mum and dad got to spend lots of time with Connor (and vice versa), and Bruce got to work without a 15 month old under his feet, so it suited everyone very well. Unfortunately I can't post pictures at the moment so will update them later...

Connor is really not at all interested in having his teeth brushed, and I spend ages trying to get to all the teeth in his little mouth while he's wriggling around putting his feet in the sink, hands under the tap and anything else that doesn't involve sitting still. When it comes time for me to brush it's a different story, which usually ends up with me battling to keep hold of my toothbrush!
