Our Playcentre went for a weekend camp last weekend, at Clarkes Beach, about 50 mins from Auckland on the Manukau Harbour. It was an absolutely fantastic spot, with cabins curved around a lovely big grassy area, that slowly sloped down to a very safe, shallow tidal beach. The weather was a bit iffy some of the time, but it didn't matter at all, we all had a brilliant time! The boys were so excited, and counting down the number of sleeps until camp, then beside themselves with excitement when we arrived and their friends started arriving. They were in and out of each other's cabins all weekend, and had the run of the place, it was so cool. We didn't take too many pics as we were too busy having fun, but here are a few:
A photo looking out from our cabin, across the grass and you can see the sea in the background.
One of the highlights was the children's Christmas party, with the best Santa I have ever experienced. He had the children (and adults) in fits of laughter, and was so good that even his children didn't recognise him and were a bit reluctant to get too close!
Another highlight for the boys was a kayak, which one of the families brought down. The beach by the camp was extremely shallow, one that even at high tide you can wade out for a very long way and still be up to your knees. It was perfect for the kayak, and at one point I was pushing nine of them backwards and forwards along the bay. It was pretty cold and windy at that point I must admit, but great fun! Connor is third from the right, and Byron third from the left (in the baseball cap)
Connor (in blue t shirt) attempting to push his friends around. He had such a great time, he just loved being with all his friends for the whole weekend. He gets very excited about things and I don't think I've ever seen him so excited for such a prolonged period of time! He slept in until quarter to nine on Sunday morning, which is completely unheard of, he's usually up at 6:30am no matter how tired he is, so it goes to show how zonked he was!
The kayak was just as popular once it was back on land
